A bedtime ritual

My youngest son has a ritual that we go through every night before he goes to bed. About a half hour befpre bed I’ll tell him he’s going to bed soon. If if he is super tired he’ll actually start this on his own. First he asks me “hand?”. This means he wants to hold my hand, sort of. Then he goes and gets his Winnie the Pooh afghan (or anything else with material, preferable fringed or with openings in the pattern, if we’re not at home). When he returns to the couch he’ll take my left hand and place it palm up over his lap. This can get a little uncomfortable after a while but I don’t mind. He places the afghan over my hand and then makes sure that my fingers are poking through the fringe. Then he rubs his own palm over my fingertips. Now I get the fingertip massage part. I’m not sure what the afghan has to do with it. He has tried this with my brothers ex-girlfriend, who’s a very good sport. He never tries it with a man, because you have to have fingernails for this.Anybody have any kids who have little routines like this or routines that are a little different in some way? Let me know, I think it’s interesting stuff.
