We love to watch movies in our house. We are VERY laid back during the summer, particularly in the month of August when neither of the boys has school. It isn’t unusual at all to find us up late watching movies. Usually family movie night takes place in the living room, with everyone comfy on one of the couches. There was one memorable family movie night where everyone piled into my bed, since I was recuperating from surgery and not feeling up to getting out of bed.

For family movie night I personally like to find movies that one or more of us wanted to see in the theater but missed for some reason. This week I discovered that when you buy two boxes of certain Big G cereals you get a free movie download. Being as many of our favorite cereals are made by Big G this was a no brainer for us. Free movies? Yes please!

Lucky Charms Caramel PeanutButter Marshmallow Treat and free movie box

We Bought A Zoo was a movie I’d really wanted to see in the theater but didn’t. Well, it happened to be one of the Big G cereal movies. So, there was a late movie night in our house this week and we watched We Bought A Zoo.  It was terrific! Since one of my son’s favorite tv and movie snacks is dry cereal, I whipped up some Lucky Charms Caramel Peanut Butter Marshmallow Treats. I don’t know why but there are times that I’m still surprised at how much teenage boys can eat! They were gone in no time, even before the movie was over. Anyway.

If you’d like to get a free movie download too, be sure when you go to the store to look for two specially marked boxes of any of the following cereals:

  • Cocoa Puffs
  • Frosted Cheerios
  • Fruity Cheerios
  • Golden Grahams
  • Honey Nut Cheerios
  • Lucky Charms
  • Reese’s Puffs
  • Trix

The codes are printed on the inside of the box. Once you have your cereal boxes with the codes, go to the Big G Cereal Movies page and enter the two codes there. You then get to choose the movie you want to download. There are currently ten movies to choose from, including We Bought A Zoo. You also will have to choose the format you want your download in, the choices are Target Ticket, Vudu, or Google Play. Don’t wait too long to redeem your codes, all movies must be downloaded prior to August 31, 2015!

Here’s a brief video explaining how this General Mills and Fox movie download promotion works a little better.

How do you do family movie night at your house?

  1. We have downloaded several of these movies and are loving this promotion. Seriously Marmaduke is the best movie ever!! Thank you Big G!

  2. We don’t do movie night at our house, but we do need to start. Normally my Hubs sits watching his shootem up shows and I go watch reality tv. He usually has popcorn and I don’t snack. I like your idea of marshmallow treats better.

  3. I have already redeemed 2 movies through the offer and my kids were so excited. This is such a great promotion and perfect for summer time.

  4. I am not a big popcorn person but I could easily snack on some cereal during a flick. Honey nut cheerios are great to snack on without the milk. If I went with the luck charms I would just pick out all of the marchmallows. (hanging head in shame)
