You:   “Go wash your hands.”
Child: “I did.”
You look at your child’s hands and see that they are dirty.
You:   “That was this morning. Go do it again.”

Sound familiar? Moms, you know what it’s like to have to tell your children to wash their hands when they’re little. At times our gentle (or maybe not so gentle) reminders may seem like nagging, but we keep at it so that our children do in fact clean their hands and learn that good hygiene is important. If you’ve ever questioned yourself on putting too much importance on having clean hands, or if you’ve ever started to wonder if you were nagging your children about hand cleanliness too much, you are not alone.

I’d just started reading about their new campaign when I read that Dial agreed that in most instances mother does know best. At that point I knew I had to keep reading and see what it was all about, because you all know how much I enjoy being right. According to a study of 1,024 adults for the Dial Campaign For Clean Hands, 76% of Americans said they were taught proper hand washing by their mother.

The Dial Campaign For Clean Hands is a program that hopes to educate families about the importance of proper hand washing. Dial has put together a great website, www.campaignforcleanhands.com, for this campaign that offers two contests, games and activities, educational materials and a hand washing chart for home use. One of the contests is a sweepstakes where the winner will receive a year supply of Dial Complete. The other contest is a video contest that asks children 18 and under to create a 15-30 second long video stating why clean hands are important to good health. The contest winner will receive a trip to Washington, D.C., provided by NWA WorldVacations, and $1,000.

Dial Complete isn’t just soap, it’s an antibacterial foaming handwash. It’s gentle enough to use many times per day and yet it exceeds FDA standards for use in the healthcare industry and has been proven to be 10 times more effective at killing germs than ordinary liquid soaps. It’s available to purchase in food and drug retail stores nationwide. It comes in a 7.5 fluid oz. pump bottle that retails for between $2.29 and $2.79, and is available in Original, Fresh Pear, Cool Plum, Soothing White Tea and For the Kitchen scents. Refill sizes are also available in 32 and 50 fluid ounce bottles.

I got to try out Dial Complete in the Fresh Pear scent. It smells really terrific. The soap felt sort of silky smooth when I used it, probably because it has a little lotion in it. One of the things that I liked best about it was the pear scent. It was totally yummy! Did I already mention that? I get excited when things smell good in the bathroom, because let’s face it, it’s the bathroom. The other thing I liked best about it is that after I used it my hands didn’t feel dried out like they do after using some antibacterial soaps. I’m guessing that’s the lotion at work again. (I use tissue with lotion to protect my nose when I have a cold, why not soap with lotion to protect my hands? Seems logical to me.)  CJ has been enjoying it because it’s got “bubbles”. RB likes it because even with lotion he has no residue on his hands, he says it just feels clean. TJ was happy we’d finally finished the Huggies Clean Team soap that dispensed from a hippo and didn’t care about much else.

The giveaway
I’ve got a great prize for one lucky winner in honor of National Clean Hands week. You did know it was National Clean Hands week, didn’t you? Of course you did. Moms know these things. The prize for this giveaway is a case of Dial Complete soap. Yep, a whole case. That ought to keep the kids clean for a little while anyway. At least let’s hope so.

How to enter.
To enter, you’ll need to visit the Dial Complete site and decide which soap you think you’d like best or want to try. Then you need to visit the Dial Campaign For Clean Hands site, click on the orange activities and sweepstakes button in the bottom right and find the when to wash/how to wash activity that you think your child would most enjoy/benefit from. Then come back here and leave a comment on this post telling me which soap and which activity. I have set both of those links to open in new tabs so that you don’t have to go back and forth ten times. You can thank me later. Or, thank me now by submitting this post to StumbleUpon, Kirtsy, MomRanks or whatever social media site you like.

Want an additional entry?
If your child makes a video to enter the contest, leave the youtube link for your video on this post for an additional entry.
