REVIEW AND #GIVEAWAY – JORD Wood Watches @woodwatches_com #jordwatch

The product(s) featured in this review was provided free of cost to me for the sole purpose of product testing and review. This review has not been monetarily compensated and is based on the views and opinions of my family and/or self. I like watches. I have a number of them. Some are easy to put on. Some are not, and those don’t get worn very often. Basically if it doesn’t look nice (to me) and I can’t put it on myself, I’m probably not going to wear it. When I was offered the opportunity to review a JORD Wood Watch I was very intrigued. I couldn’t imagine what a watch made of real wood might look and feel like.

JORD Wood Watches are unique hand-crafted watches that are made from natural wood. Some of the woods used include bamboo, maple, sandlewood, blackwood, cherry, and teak. The bands and movement housings can be made from one or more types of wood. The internal movements are sourced from the finest international watch manufacturers and the glass is a scratchproof “blue film” glass. I chose the Ely model, which is made of maple and retails for $129. This model watch has a smaller face then many of the others, but is still suitable for both men and women to wear in my opinion. JORD watches vary in color and style. Each JORD watch is designed to be splash-proof but is not intended for complete submergence in water. Like snowflakes, no two JORD watches are the same, because the grain and colors of the woods vary. Watches come with one year of limited warranty protection. My watch arrived safely, resting comfortably inside a nice box on a puffy, padded pillow.

JORD Wood Watches JORD Wood Watches

I went to put my watch on immediately. I was thrilled to discover that the band is made in such a way that is very easy to put the watch on with one hand, even if it’s the left hand of a clutzy right-handed person like me. To release the band you just squeeze the two buttons with two fingers and it opens right up. To close the band you just gently push the stainless steel clasp down into place. I thought for sure that the watch would be heavy and rough, and I even contemplated that I might get a splinter. To my surprise, the watch is very light and very smooth. I have worn it for about a week now with no issues. It’s simple and elegant, and goes well with everything.

The one thing I m not thrilled about in regards to this watch is changing the date. Winding it is no big deal. But to change the date you must manually keep turning to go through every hour of every day, whereas many other watches allow you to just move forward a day at a time. My watch arrived and was off by three weeks. It took me five days of winding (not straight of course) to get it to the right date because my fingers would get tired. Fortunately, if you keep the watch wound you won’t have to worry about changing the date often, so this isn’t really a big deal.

JORD Wood Watches

I am very pleased with my JORD wood watch. It’s a lovely, unique piece that serves a purpose with style. More than a few people have noticed my watch and asked me about it, remarking how unique it was. I agree. Some people sigh at the thought of giving (or receiving) a watch. That won’t be the case with a JORD watch. If you’re looking to give someone a unique gift that will be appreciated, noticed and remembered, JORD wood watches are something you’ll want to consider.

Need For Speed Movie Review #NFSMovie

Admission to a screening of this movie was provided free of cost to me. This review has not been monetarily compensated and is based on the views and opinions of my family and/or self. Please note that as always, any opinions reflected in this post are my own and have not been influenced by the sponsor in any way.

Need For Speed poster

It’s no secret that I love cars. I also love some of the car movies. (I could all of the Fast and Furious movies as faves except for Tokyo Drift.) When I heard that those nice folks over at Dreamworks were making a car movie, I wondered if it would be, well, be a bit blah. Don’t get me wrong. Some of the DreamWorks movies have been my favorite. Meet The Parents is one of my all time favorite movies. I loved Shrek, Madagascar and Chicken Run. But how would they do with a movie about cars and racing, that was the question. The answer in short is, they knocked it out of the park. Need for Speed was awesome, and is definitely a movie I will watch again. And probably again and again after that.

Need for Speed is a movie based on a racing video game that I’ve heard of but never played. The main character is Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul). Marshall is a young, working-class mechanic. He has his own shop that’s been in his family, where he rebuilds cars. He also races in unsanctioned street races for money. In order to try and save the garage, Marshall agrees to build a car for famous driver Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper). The car is so impressive that it’s sold almost immediately to the lovely female car broker Julia Maddon (Imogen Poots). Unfortunately, there is a horrific accident and one of Marshall’s employees and friends dies in the crash. The crash was caused by Dino, but Dino frames Marshall and Marshall goes to prison for two years.

Fast forward two years, to present day, Marshall is out of prison and dead set on revenge against Dino. The only way to do this is to beat him in a famous secretive invite-only race called De Leon. In a matter of days Marshall must wrangle an invite out of the mysterious Monarch (Michael Keaton), the rich man who organizes the De Leon and chooses who participates. He gets his invite with under 48 hours until the race, and has to literally race across the country to make it to the race in time. The race across the country is intense, as some of Marshall’s team is no longer able to help, and because once Dino learns Marshall will be at De Leon he puts a bounty out on him.

Marshall does make it to the West coast just in time for check in of the race. I don’t want to give too many spoilers, so I’m going to say that things get really crazy after he checks in, people are hurt and he’s left without a car to race. He does get a car to take to the race – an unexpected car from an unexpected source. He gets to the race just as they are about to start, and the race begins. The race is action packed and full of awesome footage. I can’t tell you much more without giving away good stuff, so you’re just going to have to watch it for yourself.

The cars and special effects in this movie are great. I found no slow points in it at all, it just kept driving forward. I absolutely LOVE the Mustang. (If you’ve read me for a while you know I love Mustangs.) This movie would be great for folks who enjoy movies with lots of action and fast cars along with a great adversarial battle. “Need for Speed” is presented by DreamWorks Pictures, produced by Patrick O’Brien, John Gatins and Mark Sourian, and directed by Scott Waugh. The screenplay is by George Gatins. The film took the green flag and opened in theaters two days ago on March 14, 2014.

Here’s an extended trailer for the movie.

REVIEW – @iLeesh Retractable Dog Leash #pets

The product(s) featured in this review was provided free of cost to me for the sole purpose of product testing and review. This review has not been monetarily compensated and is based on the views and opinions of my family and/or self. Please note that the opinions reflected in this post have not been influenced by the sponsor in any way.

Ileesh Retratable Dog Leash

When I first brought Dobby home in January he was a tiny four pounds. He never went far from me during the first week or two. The first day i didn’t even have a leash, since it had been after 11 pm when I brought him home. Then we were having to potty so often and in such a hurry to avoid accidents that I’d literally pick him up and run him outside. That stopped at about two weeks. That’s when Dobby got brave enough to start to show an interest in wandering, and headed for the street. One incident of heading for the street was enough for me. I didn’t want him hurt or lost so I knew that from that point forward when in the front he’d have to be on a leash.

I received the opportunity to try a retractable leash from iLeesh. They carry a number of different breeds. Dobby is technically a mix of Labrador Retriever, Australian Shepherd and Boxer but he looks all lab, so I chose the I love my Labrador Retriever leash. The leash itself is made of a a high intensity soft nylon belt material that is designed to avoid burns or cuts. The leash has a chromium plated latch hook to attach to your dog’s collar. The part that the leash is houses in is made of a durable impact plastic. It has a soft grip handle and waterproof reflective sticker of the breed. The leash is really easy to use. It has a one hand braking and locking system, which means that you can control whether or not the leash can extend with just the push of your thumb. Some of the leashes Leashes come in different colors including black, turqoise and pink. They are also available in two different belt sizes – medium which is 15ft long and is designed to hold a dog of up to 44lb/20kg, and large which is 9ft long and is designed to hold a dog of up to 100lb/45kg.

The iLeesh is great because it gives you and your dog freedom, because you can control how much lead and slack there is when you’re walking. Shorten with the push of a button and it helps keep your pet safe in traffic. Let the leash out to give your pet room to roam while safely attached. The handle is very comfortable to hold. The iLeesh Retractable Dog Leash is available for purchase online and retails for $24.99.

iLeesh also carries many other products including  pillows, coffee mugs, mouse pads, keychains, decals, and air fresheners.

REVIEW – @PetSafe Indigo Dog Treats #pets

Petsafe Indigo Dog Treats

Dobby loves his treats! I like to have a different variety for him. Recently we had the opportunity to try something new – PetSafe Indigo treats. The Indigo line of treats includes Smokehouse Strips, Fresh Dental Sauce, Fresh Dental Sticks, Fresh Floss Bones.

Smokehouse Strips are sort of like jerky for dogs. Dobby really enjoyed these, he gobbled them right up. Every time he saw me go for the bag he got excited. These treats are made with premium cuts of USDA-inspected chicken or pork. They contain no corn, wheat, or soy, also no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. The only thing I wish they would change about these is the package. The package comes vacuum sealed. Once open there’s no way to seal it shut again. Maybe they knew they’d disappear so fast that stale treats wouldn’t be an issue.

The Fresh Dental Sticks are made with natural chicken and blueberry flavors, and contain no wheat, corn, or soy. They also contain no artificial colors or preservatives. They do have a sort of minty smell. The smell is intended to help freshen your pets breath, while the texture and shape is designed to scrape away plaque and tartar. The Fresh Floss Bones are made of the same thing. I couldn’t believe how long this lasted. Unlike some treats, Dobby took a while to finish these off. Word to the wise though, if your dog takes a while to finish these, watch where you walk. Dobby left his next to one of his beds, which is near my desk. These things hurt to step on like Legos. We haven’t tried the Fresh Sauce yet, which is recommended for toy breeds and senior dogs. It’s a topping to go over the dog food that is supposed to freshen breath and remove tartar buildup.

Nutro Crunchy Real Apple Dog Treats from Chewy.com

This month I received some NUTRO Crunchy Real Apple Dog Treats from Chewy.com. Dobby goes through treats like mad, and I like to have a variety. After all, we like a little variety in our diet, so I figure he probably would too. You should see me when I pick up canned cat food, but that’s a whole nother story.  NUTRO Crunchy Treats With Real Apple are a natural dog treat, made with 100% natural ingredients. They contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. They’re made right here in the US with whole grains such as brown rice and oatmeal, as opposed to wheat or corn. They’re also made with real apples. I didn’t taste it for myself so I can’t tell you if they taste like apples, but I can tell you they smell sort of like apples. These little guitar pick shaped snacks are pretty crunchy, but he doesn’t have a hard time biting them. I like knowing that I’m giving him a natural treat. Dobby enjoys them and gobbles them right up and then comes looking for more. I’d get these for Dobby again.

DVD EXTRAS – “Learn the Alphabet” and “Learn to Count”

I’d never seen Peppa Pig before, but had heard it mentioned many times. I’m not sure how that is, being as it’s the #1 show in the UK for three years and airs daily on Nick Jr. The show is recommended for ags 2-7. Peppa Pig features Peppa, who lives with her brother George, Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig. The show also features Peppa’s friends like Suzy Sheep, Pedro Pony, and Danny Dog. When the colorful pastel pigs came onto my screen I wondered if it was more of a girls show then boys. I didn’t have much to worry about. Peppa is a fun-loving, adventurous young pig. Like so many young children, Peppa loves to play with her friends and jump in piddles. With all that fun going on there’s bound to be laughter. With piggy laughter comes snorting. The snorting had my son in hysterics. The show is just plain fun for young kids, where the episodes have underlying messages of the importance of family, being a good friend and trust.

  • DVD Release Date: March 11, 2014
  • Rated: G (General Audience)
  • Run Time: 65 minutes
  • Number of discs: 1
  • Studio: Walt Disney Home Entertainment
  • ASIN: B00H0KD438

SYNOPSIS – Each year, Rabbit plays Easter Bunny, but this year, he’s decided it’s “Spring Cleaning Day,” and he orders everyone to hop to it: scrubbing, dusting, and mopping. All his pals are disappointed – especially little Roo – until Rabbit learns that putting others first and showing friends how much you care turns every day into a precious gift. Sparkling with unforgettable songs and never-before-seen bonus treat, this delightful “egg-stravaganza” shows why love, hope and friendship are always in full bloom in the Hundred Acre Wood!

BONUS FEATURE – Get Up And Dance

CAST – Jim Cummings (Winnie the Pooh, Mini Adventures of Winnie the Pooh) as Winnie the Pooh/Tigger, Peter Cullen (My Friends Tigger & Pooh, Pooh’s Heffalump Movie, Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year) as Eeyore and John Fiedler (Pooh’s Heffalump Movie, Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year) as Piglet.

My youngest son and I love Pooh. All things Winnie the Pooh. I have loved Pooh for as long as I remember. I love Pooh and friends so much that when my youngest was born he was almost accidentally named after one of the characters. Fortunately, the husband did a quick save when he saw the paperwork my Mom had helpfully tried to fill out. Anyway. We love Pooh. It’s always sure to make us smile. This past Sunday is a good example. My youngest hadn’t been feeling quite like himself. He basically laid on the couch the entire day, not ill as far as I could tell but not his smiling typical self. So, I popped in the new Blu-ray that had just arrived a couple of days before – Winnie The Pooh: Springtime With Roo. It took under two minutes for him to sit up and take interest. When the narrator started talking my son was all ears. We snuggled under a blanket and enjoyed the newest Pooh movie to join our collection. In Springtime With Roo, Roo is still very young. The Hundred Acre Wood gang are all looking forward to participating in an egg hunt. They’d all enjoyed the egg hunt led by Rabbit the year before and couldn’t wait to do it again. Rabbit, on the other hand, has no plans to lead an egg hunt this year because noone listened to him last year. This new movie is a look at what would happen if he doesn’t host an egg hunt. Imagine if everyone were so disappointed there were no egg hunt that they left the Hundred Acre Wood and left Rabbit all alone!  That’s what Rabbit imagines, and it’s what leads him to evaluate how true friends behave.
This movie is a must have for all Pooh fans.

REVIEW – Spring Naturals Dry Dog Food #pets

The product(s) featured in this review was provided free of cost to me for the sole purpose of product testing and review. This review has not been monetarily compensated and is based on the views and opinions of my family and/or self. Please note that the opinions reflected in this post have not been influenced by the sponsor in any way.

Spring Naturals Dog Food

Recently we had the opportunity to try Spring Naturals pet food. Spring Naturals makes pet foods and treats. Not familiar with Spring Naturals? Here’s a little more about them.

At Spring Naturals, we believe that dogs and cats deserve the most nutritionally and functionally balanced foods and treats that will improve their life-long health and well-being. Our exclusive recipes will always be natural and based on our Whole Food Nutrition philosophy that a balanced blend of real meat, poultry or fish combined with whole vegetables, whole fruits and whole grains is a better way to nurture a pet than by using meat, poultry and fish meals. We also believe that dogs and cats fed on a diet consisting of low glycemic ingredients without added starches and carbohydrates lead longer, healthier lives.

We tried the Chicken Dinner with chickpeas, quinoa & berries. Well, let me correct myself. Dobby tried it, I just fed it to him and watched. I can tell you that this dog food did not smell like any other dog food I’ve ever smelled. It smelled sort of more like people food, but not quite. Texture wise, it’s pretty small, and hard and crunchy. We noticed two things. Dobby was willing to eat it. But, he had a hard time chewing it. I think that was because he’s just a puppy and it’s pretty crunchy. We found to to be pretty loud. usually we hear the chewing a little, but this got loud enough we could hear it over the other noises in the room. That isn’t a bad thing, we just thought it was interesting. Take a listen.

The second thing we noticed is that he had a hard time keeping it in his mouth while eating. Generally his food never hits the floor, it goes from his bowl to his mouth and that’s the last we see of it until he goes potty. This food tended to fall out of his mouth. After a few days he seemed really hungry, so we put this away for trying again at a future time when he’s a little older.

I like that Spring Naturals strives to make a product that is good for the pet. They explained the difference between meat and meal well, and I do find the idea of my pet eating meat more appealing then eating meal, which is basically just a byproduct of the oil rendering process. I think it’s great I knew what many of the ingredients on the label were. It’s also great that they make their products without artificial preservatives, flavors or colors. If you’re looking for a natural pet food, Spring Naturals is worth a look.

Sunoco Gift Cards Are Great Gifts – With $25 GC #Giveaway

Sunoco Gift Card

The great thing about gift cards is that the person receiving the gift card can get what they want. Now getting a gift card to a gas station may not sound like fun at first, but I will say that it’s one type of gift card I have given on numerous occasions and am always happy to receive. Gas is useful, the car requires it to go. With finances being horrible these days and gasoline here in my area of New Jersey being $3.35 per gallon, a Sunoco gift card in my wallet is a blessing. Not only can Sunoco gas cards buy gas, they can be used for purchasing lots of other things too such as car repairs and snacks in their convenience store. I can give one to the hubby if he’s short on cash and he can put gas in the tank and get coffee on the way to work. I could give one to my parents, who travel for both business and pleasure. Because Sunoco stations are located nationwide, the card is good wherever they are. They’re perfect to put in your wallet if you’re going on a road trip, you only need to go online from your computer or phone to use the Sunoco store locator to find the station nearest to you.

Sunoco gift cards are very versatile, and can be purchased both in the store and online. You can learn more about Sunoco gift cards online. You can also find Sunoco on Facebook.

What state are you in and what is the price of gasoline there? Leave a comment and let me know!

We’re big Sesame Street fans here. I remember watching Sesame Street when I was young. I remember introducing Sesame Street to my oldest son early on. My youngest developed interest in it around the time that Elmo’s World segment came out, and for a while it was his favorite. He’ll still sit down and watch from time to time, which he did with this video. My son got a big kick out of seeing the familiar characters and seeing them talk all about animals. I love Elmo, he is adorable. I enjoyed seeing Elmo help us learn more about the animals in the environment around us, and how they live. This DVD, and the show in general, is wonderful because it teaches and reinforces early learning skills. This DVD is a must have for all Elmo fans.
